The problem of the window
The SFMOMA Magritte exhibition featured an interactive gallery that placed visitors inside the surreal world of René Magritte’s artwork. Advanced technologies such as stereoscopic depth cameras, face-tracking, and layered digital assets were used to bring Magritte’s work to life.
As lead designer, I conceptualized scenarios, collaborated with development teams, and built final assets. The interactive gallery allows visitors to experience the world through Magritte’s eyes, placing them inside the artwork based on their physical presence in front of each window.
Depth cameras placed at the top of each window captures the user’s features and transports them into the unknown world of Magritte’s paintings.
